Striker II is out, just picked it up a few hours ago (at Compleat
Strategist, for certain parties interested in that tidbit).

Here's the RQL (Really Quick Look):

The system is based on GDW's COMMAND DECISION rules,
which I'm not familiar with but have heard good things about.

Sections are:
Basic rules, which didn't seem confusing in my quick read-through
                   (failure on this point tends to be a bad sign ;-);
Advanced Rules, weather, artillery, EW, psionics, engineering, and such.
Must say I like the drop capsule scatter rules: take paper
chits, raise them a given level above the playing surface,
and drop them. I remember another game with this kind
of scatter system (oh yeah...CAR WARS explosion debris
scattering). It may seem silly by just reading it, but in
                   practice it works fine.
Campaign Rules, considerations off the battlefeild
Scenarios: Four of them: one in the Empire of Solee (a pocket empire
coreward of the RC); the often mentioned Dawn League
action on Veniza by DLS Ashtabula; Fifth Frontier
War ground action on Efate, complete with Zho commandos
and the 4518th Lift Infantry Regiment ("Duke of Regina's Own
Huscarles")!; and finally, back to the RC for a drop assault
                   dated 1202.
Other Stuff: Equipment and organizational charts to build your own
forces, quick reference charts, two pages of FF&S
design sequence clarifications and upgrades that have
                   direct bearing on Striker II.

Oh, and lest I forget to mention it,

********************************************************************************

********************************************************************************
HIGH ENERGY WEAPONS HAVE HAD A MAJOR DESIGN
CHANGE/UPGRADE TO BOOST THEIR EFFECTIVENESS!!!!

*******************************************************************************

*******************************************************************************
Yes, all that (reasoned) complaining paid off.

The cartridges are half the size, range is roughly three times improved,
and damage more than doubled.

Question for Loren: can people who do not intend to buy Striker II
get the design sequence upgrade pages seperately? Twenty bucks
is a bit hefty for two pages.
